WHAT IS A PAINTING SPONSORSHIP?
In September, I’m going to be taking a trip to the Mokelumne Wilderness area in the High Eastern Sierras where I will be doing a number of field sketches and gathering photo references for a series of paintings…much like those from past trips such as Moab and more recently the Ruby Mountains. (NOTE: I'm now back from that trip and am beginning my painting series...stay tuned!)
From the field studies and the photo references, I will be producing a minimum of six studio pieces at the 18” x 24” size. I will also be producing a minimum of ten pieces in the 12” x 16” size and ten pieces 9” x 12”.
You can now sponsor the painting of one of those paintings at one of three sponsorship levels.There will are three levels of sponsorship. When the twenty six paintings mentioned above are complete, sponsors will be allowed to choose one in exchange for their sponsorship. Sponsors will be allowed to choose from any painting in the size that corresponds to their level of sponsorship – LEVEL 1 (18”x24”), LEVEL 2 (12”x16”), and LEVEL 3 (9”x12”)
Sponsors will be allowed to choose in the order their sponsorship was received. That’s why I’m announcing this now prior to the opening of the sign ups, so that everyone will have opportunity to sign up at the same time.
SPONSORSHIPS WILL BE LIMITED
Sponsorships are unique in that, unlike a commission, the painting’s subject, composition, colors, etc. will be determined solely by me, the artist. However, in fairness to the sponsor, beyond the choice in order of sponsorship, there will also be limits to the number of sponsorships allowed. For example, there will only be three LEVEL 1 sponsorships offered. Since I’m painting at least six painting at 18” x 24”(LEVEL 1) size, the first sponsor will be allowed his or her choice of any of the six; the second sponsor allowed his or her choice of any of the remaining five, and the third sponsor will be allowed to choose from among the remaining four. After the sponsors have chosen their paintings, the remaining paintings will be available for sale at regular price.
There will be 5 LEVEL 2 sponsorships available and 7 LEVEL 3 sponsorships. Those sponsors will also be allowed their choice of a painting in the manor described above.
WHAT IS THE COST FOR THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SPONSORSHIP?
Standard prices for the sizes of the paintings mentioned above are $2,175.00, $1,075.00, and $675.00 respectively.
Sponsorship prices are:
LEVEL 1 - $1,000.00
LEVEL 2 - $500.00
LEVEL 3 - $250.00
Sponsored paintings are therefore LESS THAN HALF PRICE! By sponsoring a painting, you are guaranteeing that you will receive one of my paintings at that price. By me limiting the number of sponsorships and offering the paintings the remaining paintings at regular price guarantees that I must strive for the highest quality in every painting (something that you know I do anyway)!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The body of paintings will be completed in a three to four month period after my trip.
I will be hosting a sponsor appreciation party at my studio.
Sponsors who are able to be in attendance will be able to pick up their painting at the party, though they will have had opportunity to choose their paintings prior to it. Attendance to the party isn’t required and doesn’t affect sponsor’s order of choice.
Field studies, preliminary sketches, notes, etc. for the paintings will be available at additional cost and sponsors of paintings to which those apply will have first option to purchase them.
