"Long Lake Ice"
Oil on Canvas 24" x 60" "In early June, my buddy Barry and I hiked to the top of Mount Elwell in California. On the way we were blown away by this scene as we approached Long Lake. I have not done it much justice, God's version is by far more spectacular, but I had a great time painting this nonetheless. After having resisted the notion of using a 3-color palette for some time now, I decided to give it a try on the study I did for this. It worked out so well, I decided to limit myself to a 3-color palette for the studio piece as well. I find such a palette quite liberating and will probably stick to that palette from now on!" |
