"Trickle" - painted in the studio November 2007

| 1.) I almost didn't show the progress on this one because it's kind of a jumble...but then I thought it might just be interesting to some folks. What you see above is my start, of sorts. In actuality it's a re-start or an over-start (but not a start-over). Occasionally I paint what I term a "loser". I had painted a still life of some gourds, leaves, etc. I wasn't too excited about it when I began and never pulled it together like I wanted. When I asked my wife her opinion...well, let's just say she confirmed it. So, I scraped it down, turned it upside down and started this painting of a little desert stream that really is nothing more than a trickle. I really was much more excited about this one, so here it is after the first ten minutes or so of painting. | |||||||||||||

| 2.) I work rather losely, dividing my canvas into about four main areas and working on each area one at a time. There is light streaming across a little canyon lighting up some sage brush and the stream will ultimately come down the middle. This little one I finished in about an hour or so...
