Day 5 - May 29, 2004
Day 1: Location 1, Location 2, Location 3
Day 2, All Locations
Day 3, All Locations
Day 4, All Locations
Day 5, All Locations
Well, here are Day 5's posts. The weather is better today, but still a bit windy. I'm not going back up to the sites anyway; I'm pretty tapped out, though I am going to stick to my schedule and paint six hours today. Obviously, I didn't acheive the goal of the challenge...but, I had a great time the two days I had in the wilderness. Had the weather cooperated, I wouldn't have gotten any further than I have, I would have just gotten to enjoy the outdoors a few days more. I now know I am unable to paint three big paintings in five days, however, I will have three new landscapes done by then end of June, I think, so it has been a sucessful venture as far as I'm concerned. Well, following is today's progress.
I'm almost ready to begin on the foreground. Trees take me a lot of time for some reason. I'm not all that keen on painting trees...funny that I paint Sierra landscapes, huh?
More work on the trees, I still have a bit to go, then I'll paint the creek and the foreground and finally trees on this side of the creek.
I spent a good deal of time detailing the rocks and began on the water of the falls. I'm really enjoying this one, though I was kind of hating it out on location because I had to balance my easel precariously on the edge of a cliff and where I had to stand was a pretty steep slope. It was cool just the same. There was always a mist spraying me lightly, little birds would land on the rocks to the right for drinks, and one day a huge red tail hawk flew right over my head and I watched it soar all the way down the ravine.
Well, this is the end of the challenge. Thanks for following along with my adventure!
