I took a little side road to see where it went before I went to my first location and ran into these young bucks sprouting a little velvet. Ah, but they didn't detain me long, off to paint.

This is my first location, Jamison Creek with Mount Washington in the background. My blank canvas is showing from the bottom left. I'm set-up right at creek side. |
| After I lay down my pencil sketch, I continue to sketch with grey and black gesso. I lay down the middle value greys and then come back with the black to lay in my shadows. The gesso bottle recommend letting the gesso set for a minimum of 24 hours...24 hours?!? I don't have that kind of time! Anyway, with the sun beating down on it, I deem it dry enough after about ten minutes... |

Lastly, I lay down a quick wash for my underpainting. I then lift out my tints using my rag and Q-tips like I did painting Gold Lake in the demo. OK, let's move on, it's almost 10.
